As the longest year comes to an end (thanks for nothing, coronavirus!) and we enter 2021 filled with hope, it’s time to reflect on the past year and plan your new goals.
It’s tradition to sit down and think about what you want to achieve and where you want to be in the next 12 months, but quite often people forget to think about exactly how they’ll do that.
Without a clear idea of your goals and how you’re going to achieve them, it’s oh so easy to fall off the wagon and lose sight.
So where do you start?
Well, reflection is a good jumping off point. What were your goals last year? Did you achieve them or did they evolve as the year progressed? If you didn’t achieve them, why was that?
There’s plenty of things that could’ve gone wrong, and we’re here to help you figure out why and to help prevent that from happening again.
If you’re wondering why you failed to achieve your goals last year, it’s likely that you didn’t set them properly in the first place.
When setting goals, it’s easy to fall into the trap of setting goals that aren’t specific enough. It’s all well and good saying you want to earn bucket loads of money from property investment, but realistically this isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Without clear goals and focus, it is easy to fall astray and before you know it, it’s the end of the year and you’ve not accomplished half of what you wanted.
If you’ve been following Property Hub for a while, you’ll know we’re big on goal setting – and not just your run of the mill goals. We’re talking smart goals. This simple framework helps you set more realistic goals:
Treat these pointers as your checklist for success when setting your goals and you’ll already be off to a good start.
Goals like ‘I want property to make me rich’ lack focus and accountability. Something like ‘I want to make x amount of money from property investment in the next x amount of years’ is a much more attainable and structured goal, and has a greater chance of getting you closer to achieving that dream lifestyle.
Want to solidify this and start setting your own smart goals? We have a free goal setting course to get you sorted.
Quite often when investing in property people hit the dreaded bump in the road… finance. We know many ‘property gurus’ tell you that you can invest without cash, but you can’t.
No money down deals don’t exist – you’ll always need someone’s money. And there’s no get-rich-quick schemes we can tell you about either.
We know that deposits are often the biggest barrier when investing in property, and thankfully we’ve got a handy video with 6 ideas on how you can raise the cash to invest in property here.
The Rob’s have also been asked this question before, and they break it down and give their advice in this episode of Ask Rob & Rob.
Sourcing the perfect property is difficult at the best of times.
And during a pandemic, you could say it’s been a lot harder.
With all the challenges that have been thrown at us this year, it’s understandable that you might not have been able to find the right deal or you simply didn’t have the time to dedicate to searching for it…
Maybe you’ve been wanting to invest further afield to maximise your yield and haven’t had the chance to stake out the local area to give you that inside perspective.
If you’re all ready to go but don’t quite have the time to invest, perhaps our Invest team here at Property Hub could give you that helping hand. If you’re in it for the long game and want to build a premium portfolio at a discount then it’s worth checking them out.
Don’t worry, they won’t be giving you a big sales pitch, it all starts with a free one-to-one session focused entirely on you and what you want to achieve.
If you’re wanting to do all the work yourself, you can take all the best bits of what we do and apply them yourself. It’s all right here.
If you’re feeling motivated and ready to make that first step towards a more successful property investment journey for 2021 maybe it’s time you to join one of our free webinars.
