  1. Hi Hub, Lovely to meet you all!! My wife and I are relatively new to all this so we're after some help, connections and just generally a network to bounce some ideas off. We're accidental Land Lords. We have 2 properties in a Sydney, Australia and now that we're living in the U.K. we're keen to see whether we can turn what has been a general interest in property into a genuine income generating pursuit. Please feel free to drop us a line if you're local to Leeds and fancy a coffee/beer as we'd love to pick your brain on how best to get started, what minefi
  2. Hi, Please can anyone recommend a residential surveyor in the Leeds/Bradford area (property is located west of Leeds). I've had a couple of quotes which are fine but time frames are too long. Any help would be be much appreciated. Thanks Rick
  3. Hi, I have undertaken a few renovations of projects in Hull in the past few years, so have a few tradesmen I use. However, I have just purchased a 3 bedroom flat in Leeds City center that requires renovation works. As I don't know any local tradesmen where would people recommend to try and find then? Does any one use any particular websites like Checkatrade.com? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Hey everyone! Becoming increasingly keen on an investment property in Leeds. We want to go for capital growth rather than a good yield and looking for advice on main areas of Leeds to focus on - whether that be new builds or we do have the resource for refurb projects if it will actually add value in areas that are likely to grow. We can't decide whether to go for city centre flats geared for professionals, or a larger property potentially for student accommodation. Have seen lots of lovely new build flats in the centre, but they seem expensive compared the rest of
  5. Hello lovely people! This forum has been such a useful find! I've learnt so much scouring through all the posts and I'm so glad to have found the podcast! My partner and I are intending to visit the North and hope that you guys can recommend any sourcing agents/estate agents in the Northern areas such as Glasgow, Hull, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham & Crewe as we will be investing remotely. Please feel free to comment or email me at sh.propportunity@gmail.com for a chat! Thank you so much! Cheers SH
  6. Hi, I wondered if anyone had any contacts for building contractors or trades people in and around the West Yorkshire area, specifically Leeds. I do have a few contacts but its always good to get recommendations from others incase. I am looking for someone to carry out a full overhaul of a property i have acquired in Kirkstall. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Emily
  7. Hi everyone! Could someone recommend an accountant in the Leeds/Yorkshire area. I'm looking to set up a limited company for my buy to let investments. Much appreciated!
  8. Hi, I have just purchased a commercial property in Kirkstall, Leeds and wondered if anyone here had any experience in converting a commercial property into residential as this is what I am hoping to do. I am also looking for an accountant who specialises in property tax around the West Yorkshire area to manage a small portfolio of properties. Thanks in advance, Emily Jackson
  9. Hi there, Does anyone know anything about the area Morley for BTL investment? What type of tenant are you likely to get? Is it a popular area for BTL? Are the connections good into Leeds? Thanks for any help.
  10. Hi all, I am new to this forum but a big fan of the podcast and online courses. Thanks Rob & Rob, I've learnt so much from you already, really glad I came across your podcasts when I first started learning about investing. I wonder if you can help me. I live and work in London as a TV producer (not Homes Under the Hammer don't worry) but I am from Leeds and looking to invest there. Currently looking for a BMV single let in Leeds and am hoping you might know of a trusted deal sourcer who can help. I am looking to invest around £70 k - £80k for a 3-4 bedroo
  11. Hi James Kelly of York here. I am currently looking for bridging finance brokers - preferably in the north but not essential - tradesmen & letting agents in these areas, if you are one or know any please get in touch. I have been religiously following all things Property Hub related for the last 18 months whilst planning my first steps. Began whilst looking to buy my first house with my wife. We have now bought and refurbed our own home and are looking to invest in BTL in Leeds, Sheffield, York, Hull area whilst also doing other flip projects to recycle our initial
  12. Hi there, I'm looking to speak to people who have started property portfolios in the North of England. I'm from Hull originally and still regularly go back there because my family are still there. I'm interested in that area but also the rest of Yorkshire and the North West. I'm in the process of trying to work out which strategy would be best for me as I live in London but I'm ready and able to invest in 2 to 3 properties in the next 12 - 18 months. I'm particularly interested in speaking to people who have done refurbs, HMOs, multiple property portfolios,
  13. Hello there! I have recently just left University and managed to buy my first property, a flat for 80k outright as i have received my inheritance early from my parents to help me on the property ladder and my own savings. Since then i have been reading about investing, i did try to buy a flat knowing that i'd not be living in it very long which would produce a good return when i left (or so i thought), i have a lodger in the other room so it does earn me a little bit of money. The flat was being let for 600pcm previously so i should be able to get that or a bit more when i do eventually move o
  14. Evening, im Andy and im a Quantity Suveyor from leeds working in the residential sector I have renovated 3 properties in the last few years and made small profits along the way, however I want to move away from living in bomb sites. I have always planned to use my connections to flip properties initially and gradually move on to larger developments and newbuilds once I have generated some capital. Whilst I have the construction knowledge I have very little knowledge of the investment side so have been reading books, listening to podcasts (rob and rob) and trawling the
  15. Hi all, I'm new to the site and to property. Whilst I currently live in Sydney I'm looking to get my first investment in early to mid 2017. My plan is invest in a buy to let as my first property. I grew up in Derby and whilst I don't have a great impression of how the local market there is performing or will perform I am interested in looking at Nottingham and Sheffield, both very close and where I have some existing friend networks. Leeds was another thought but I haven't researched it yet. I'm probably looking at spending anywhere between £100,000 and £200,000 for my first property a
  16. Hi All, I am Neil and I have been in Leeds for over 15 years now although originally from the North East. I have not started my property journey yet and looking to inspiration and any advice to get into the Leeds market. I spent a large part of my career in corporate land working as an employee until the point redundancy gave me the chance to set up my own business and provide interim change management services. This has been going really well for the past few years although I feel that i nee to create multiple streams of income to ensure that I have a more balanced financial base.
  17. Hi all, As this is my first post apologies if its a bit too long! After studying and working in architecture for 4 years I realised that the majority of our clients were property developers, and were doing much better for it. After doing some initial research, I dispelled the myths in my mind that you needed to have a lot of money or a very high paying job to be involved in property development. I then immersed myself in learning as much as I could on the subject and have really enjoyed it. Now at 23 I am looking at investing in my first buy to let property in Leeds, something I
  18. Hi all Looking to connect with anyone with any experience of buy to let in Leeds City Centre. The plan is to buy into the well-established prime location LS1 area around Park Row rather than try and spot an up and coming area which might be more speculative or buy into a new build in this area. Our sense is that there will be good rental demand for 2 bed older conversions in LS1. Any thoughts / advice from those who know this market most welcome. Best Jon
