  1. Hello So my name is Jay Miles and I'm doing it. I'm doing the property thing. I'm a personal trainer working in London and living in Essex. But I'm getting older and although I love my job I dont want to have to do it in 10 years time. I want to give more, be there for my family and work for charities helping animals and all the great life fulfilling things that make life a joy. I'm quite honestly though.... bricking it (excuse the pun). I've no idea how I'm gunning to start this, despite having read, listened and strategised myself to death. Currently always looking for other "tasks" to do in order to learn more, other than actually getting off my frightened back side and actually attempting the nuts and bolts of purchasing an opportunity. Partially for financial reasons as I do need more capital, but mostly because reading another book gives me another hit of the old 'well-at-least-I've-done-something-property-related-today' dopamine release without having to take a chance. If you Googled paralysis by analysis I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a funny meme with my face on it. So I'm writing this firstly because I've read (not surprisingly) that it's a great idea to build a network of like minded people from a business and information sharing standpoint, but mostly just in the hope that I can discover that I'm not the only one who starts like this. Please feel free to write me a motivational comment, share a story to strengthen my resolve or connect in anyway with advice and support. I'd be super grateful. Thank you All the best. Jaay
  2. Hello Property Hub! Firstly I have to say I’m blown away with all of the content and knowledge sharing on here. I stumbled across Property Hub a couple of a weeks ago and my world and plans have completely changed. With that said I’m new to property and I’m looking to build a network in order to start investing over the next 6 months. I’m currently based on the south coast, channel island and London and I plan to invest up north. Liverpool - Manchester - Sheffield etc. but I’m very much an open book and not set on any particular location. My initial thoughts are BTL but again nothing set in stone! Ultimately I would like to make this my full time job and leave my current career. Really looking forward to connecting with anyone that is either in a similar position or could help me establish myself up north/has exciting ideas. I’m super motivated and excited to see where this journey takes me! As I reach any milestones/setback I plan on sharing my journey. Charlie
  3. Hello all, I am preempting an issue arising here. I had the Sky Broadband technician come round today to connect a recently purchased flat up to the internet. It turns out there is no phone line to the property. He said he cannot go up the front of the building as there are no other cables on the exterior of the building, he is sure they will not be happy with it. He cannot run the cables along the communal hallway for the same reason. I was not comfortable with him using the communal hallway anyway as he showed me the route and walls he would have to drill though. (there are 27 flats in the block for reference) I tried to contact the freeholder on both his landline and mobile and there was no answer. The technician had to leave and I will book another appointment when the issue is resolved. I have since left the freeholder a voice message requesting a call back to discuss the matter with him. The technician did try to trace the line but he only found a very weak signal from the middle of a wall in the hallway of the flat. It would require serious guess work and a large amount of re-plastering and painting if I were to search for the cable. I was wondering if anyone had an experience with this, from either the freeholder or leaseholder side? I know the first step is to hear back from the freeholder. I just wonder what happens if he says no to the outside and inside route. It only leaves hacking at the wall. Is that my only option? It is certainly a cost I was not expecting. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Warren
