  3. Good afternoon everyone! Looking for some advice. I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first property to live in. Once everything is signed, they've given me the keys and I've sorted all my furniture, I plan to rent one of the rooms (using the government lodger allowance scheme to claim the income tax free), to help me to continue to save towards my deposit for my first proper buy to let. Questions: - legally, does he have to declare the rent as income on his tax return? - does he need to tell the mortgage provider that a friend has moved in?- does he need a particular type of mortgage?I have had some advice that if a partner was to move in (and the owner continue
  5. I had a lodger move in and leave within 30m. I gave him a recipe for his money. And he asked for it back. Now he wants to take me to a petty claims court for the money, even though he has no lodgers agreement. I am happy to pay him but I put the money on the gas and electric straight away. Will have the money soon. Where do I stand?
