  2. Hullo! I'm hoping there are some landlords out there with experience in leasing property through Housing Aid who can give me some advice? I would like to be both a socially conscious AND profitable landlord. Whilst I appreciate my profit margins will be a lot less, I strongly feel that anyone of us could easily fall on hard times and would like to help families who have. I have meet with my local Housing Aid department, who are very keen to get landlords on board. They have a massive demand for 2 bedroom homes to house families. There are many pros and I'm sure cons:

While such initiatives could help to identify/weed out rogue or unscrupulous landlords, does this group see the trend growing and what will this mean for landlords/tenants of smaller properties (where fee doesn't seem to bear relation to the property value or rental income)? Hi all, I have just received notice from a letting agent that the borough of Croydon has implemented this effective from 1st of October 2015 and failing to comply could see fines of up to £20,000 . I imagine it won't be long before other south London boroughs get clever (including the one my property falls into!). From looking at the other boroughs introducing this, it looks like London boroughs are going to be more expensive (the Croydon license is £750 for 5 years in comparison to the £500 I've found everywhere else). For anybody with more experience with this than I. Do these
  5. Hi: I have a BTL property in an area that will in a few days be hit by Selective Licensing (That area's been on National TV a few times already.) I'm reading on this, and am quite concerned with our ability to remortgage, as apparently, mortgage lender are not keen on Selective Licensing areas. We're thinking of going for a quick auction sale, worst case scenario, which would be a shame, as this was out very first property in our portfolio. Any experience/advice/comment would be VERY welcome.
