I am brand new in property and looking in Birmingham!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! My name is Jacqueline and I am new to the property world.

I have no experience with property but am currently educating myself and trying to gain as much knowledge as I can before making my first deal. Me and my business partner are looking to invest in Birmingham at the moment. Our focus is BMV multi-lets, starting at 3 or 4 bedrooms as it will be our first property. BUT firstly we are trying to get our funding together before anything. This is my current situation! Hopefully I will be updating it before June to I GOT MY FIRST PROPERTY! :)

Has anyone got any advice in particular about investing somewhere far from where you live. I am based in London but looking for property in Birmingham as it is more affordable for our first property and is in strong rental demand for room lets. Any advice would be helpful.

Thank guys! Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hi Jacquline, I'm also investing in Birmingham but live in London...I'm heading there just now view some 2 bed houses.

What are peoples experiences  of renting properties with grass gardens and is there any way to ensure the tenant looks after the garden?

Any general advice about purchasing in Birmingham would also be helpful

Hi Jazz,

To be honest it has been proven to be difficult in starting up with property as a complete newbie. As I am not a home owner finance has been difficult but we are now moving forward and heading up to Birmingham in the next couple of weeks to view some 3 bedroom houses.

To be honest in regards to gardens, you could possibly supply a basic lawnmower or give them an optional gardener to come every so often to maintain the garden and if they do not wish to pay for this then you could possibly have it as part of the tenancy agreement to maintain the garden and if not then any work that needs to be done at the end of their tenancy will be deducted from the deposit.

What area are you looking to invest in and what's your main strategy for the houses that you are buying?
