Moving Date - Extension required

Hi there

We have to vacate our current property by 31st Oct. Our new rental agency has just informed us that our new property will not be ready to move in by 31st Oct. Our current landlord has extended our lease by 3 days (our original move out date was 28th Oct) with great difficulty as his son wants to move in here and he has already given his notice and needs the property by Nov 1.

Are we within our legal right to overstay our lease (and of course pay the rent for those days) until our new property is ready? Any advice is much appreciated.
