Need advice on vermont roofing

My aunt needs a new roof. She now has an asphalt shingles roof and wants to have a different look for her house, something in green. Although many in her neighborhood have gone to a fancy designer shingle, she asked me for some other options, as she calls it. I have seen on some home TV shows in which they've shown Vermont roofing slates. I was looking for information on these types or something that looks more slate-like. If anyone has used these products and has any thoughts on them, any info would be appreciated.
