kishd 0
Hi all, Was wondering if anyone has had any experience converting 2 bedroom flats to 3 bedroom flats? I'm looking at a leasehold flat where I could very easily move the kitchen from a separate room into the living room to make an open plan kitchen/living room, and then the existing kitchen space can become a bedroom. My question is, are there any rules or regs that prevent me from doing this? I know I need to get permission from the landlord/freeholder, but do I need permission from the council to do this? Do I need building regs? What about fire safety and stuff like that? Any help would be appreciated. Link to post
EvolutionBlogger 60
Here is my answer to your query: You won't need planning permission or permitted development Your property will need to be compliant for electric safety, gas safety, smoke detectors etc. But this is always true for rental properties For fire safety, you will need to have FD30 doors installed, when you replace them. Your builder should know about this _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Vin Gupta Property Investor and Developer UK Property Blog: https://evolutionblogger.com/article/uk-property-articles Travel Blog: https://soulfultravelguy.com/ Link to post
julia urquhart 155
I believe you will also need building control if you are putting a kitchen in a new room. Link to post
