Day jobs?

I know the main bulk of members here are property investors but what is your "main" job? Do you have a career in a property related area or are you from another walk of life and like to dabble in property as an additional income?

I work in IT and have done so since I left school 15 years ago.

If I was to change job, I'd love to develop a career in something property related but for now, the property world is a nice income to support my main IT salary.

Currently have two jobs, not including property. By day I work for the family civil engineering company which specialises in the providing ground works package to principal contractors. Work includes foundations, drainage, tank installations, paving, kerbs etc. In the evening I organise running groups to help people start running who have never done it before. I have been doing this since 2012 and have had a lot of success helping a lot of people. Anyone looking to give running a go who wants a 5k training plan, give me a shout and I'll e mail you a copy.

Property has always been a passion of mine going back to the days of Property Ladder, How to Be a Property Developer and the first episode of Grand Design.

I run my own business providing services to landlords and letting agents - primarily legionella risk assessments/training and PAT testing. Spent many years working as a letting agent but got thoroughly sick of bad landlords and worse tenants.

Like you Chris I work in IT.  I'm an Architect working for an insurance firm in the City. Previously I'd spent over 10 years with one of the big 4 management consultancies (and thoroughly had enough by the end!).

What do you do in IT?

Certainly a wide and varied range of roles!

My "official" role is as a Data Analyst, but for a lot of the projects I deal with I co-ordinate and plan so have a lot of Project Management input as well, which is an area I'm keen to move into so currently looking for a new role.

I work as an IT Consultant specialising in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and cloud based applications.  My job includes being a Business Analyst / Project Manager / Application Developer / Testing / Training so a bit of everything really.  I used to work for a big consultancy which gave me little time to do things with property apart from listening to podcasts whilst commuting  :)

I am a full time NHS Nurse (Advanced Practitioner) and also work part time doing aesthetics (Botox and fillers etc).   I am about to complete on my first (I hope it's not my last) BTL property.

I've been meaning to do this for a few years and finally have enough for a deposit.  I hope I can build a portfolio over the next few years so I can supplement my NHS pension.

I am a headhunter.

I contract my services to tech companies to help them attract talent into their businesses. Particular emphasis on attracting top-performing, "passive" (ie not-actively looking for a new role) sales people who can solution sell into high end Enterprises. This means I annoy a lot of people while they're at work  ;)

I use my own limited company as a vehicle to deliver my services and invest in property on the side. My current portfolio consists of 3, growing to 5 by the end of 2015, all of which are in the north-westerly Greater London area. I have been in IT for 12years, Recruitment for 10years, Contracting for 5 and investing for 4years
