Selling or Renting to a Housing Association

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some advice please.  I am struggling to sell my house at the moment so I have looked into selling or renting to a housing association, has anyone had any experience of this?

If anyone has any advice or could share their experience this would be really appreciated.

Hi Jin

If you let it to the housing association, make sure they cover all insurance costs as getting landlord insurance will be either impossible or very expensive for you!

This is because the Housing Association controls who goes in the property and you do not have an AST with the end tenant.

Hi Jin,

I have put a couple of my properties in a 5 and 3 year lease scheme. I am about 9 months into the first lease and everything has gone to plan. The rent is guaranteed for the term of the lease whether there are voids or not. The rental amount is lower but for as close to passive income as your going to get with property - I'm happy to have some of my portfolio let via this route.

Initially I would Speak to your local housing associations/lease scheme operators  to get an idea on what rental amount you could expect.

The Manchester Meetup takes place on the first Thursday of every month, find out more here
