Hello everyone, 

I just joined the forum (which I find super helpful) and wanted to introduced myself. 

I'm in my early thirties and looking to start a property portfolio sooner than later! Looking to invest in Scotland to start with. Looking at starting small, one property, one bedroom, BTL and take it from there. 

Looking forward to learning from you all, I've read some many useful and interesting posts here and I obviously follow the podcast and have Rob's book on property investing.

Welcome to the forum, i dont want to burst your bubble so early on but Scotland at the minute is the worst part of the uk you could invest in, there is so much red tape at the minute around Rent Freezes, property land tax increases and evictions etc, the SNP really seem to be not Landlord friendly, some of the more experienced scottish property investors in here could elaborate more but scotland is getting a bad press at the minute for investing.

I would just do your due dilligence on all of the above before buying anything

What has made you consider Scotland, have you previously lived there?  As Barry has said above, I personally wouldn't touch that place with a barge pole with the amount of red tape etc.  That Nicola lady is off her head with the rules she is just making up as she goes along.

Also starting a property portfolio in Scotland this year. The increase in LBTT is annoying but there are opportunities to be had. Rental demand is very high and yields are good. Good luck in your journey.
