remco-de-w
Hi all! This is Remco from the Netherlands. My wife and I, mid-thirties with two young girls, started investing in property for about two years ago. We stumbled upon this property-thing by an ex-colleague of Remco. Not sure how we eventually ended up at the podcast, but that was the main thing that made us think about taking the leap into property. We have started with holiday lets, in a R2R strategy, using a management company. It was a big mistake. It was roughly a +15k mistake. Being a gentlemen, I will not name and shame right here but the professionality from the firms of which we did business was sad. After that we decided to step into B2L via Propertyhub. We tapped some equity from our own home in The Netherlands and started an LTD. After a couple of months Propertyhub helped us at our first B2L, in Ipswich. It was a quite an adventure but since August 2022 the apartment is tenanted and we are looking for a second B2L, as boring as can be. We want to be very hands-off. We hope to be able to pick up one property per year, if that is feasible, for the upcoming 10-15 years. We are in this thing for the long term and are trying to create a bit more stable future for our two girls. Next to that this property journey is meant to be fruitful in about 20-25years when retirement kicks in. Or.. of very prosperous, a bit earlier. Sorry to have no particular skills we can help with in this property game I guess. I am in IT (service manager, know a fair bit about Service Levels and contracts, though from a Dutch perspective). As a hobby I am a photographer (with way too expensive gear, I find) and my wife is a smart child-psychologist and researcher at a university. Have a good one everybody and sorry for the language barrier and/or rusty English. I try not to use translation tools to up my language Link to comment

That's great news that you have managed to start, especially when you are investing in a different country!!! Braver than me, lol. I buy all of my properties on my doorstep! 🤣 I think your target of 1 per year is very sensible and hopefully you can continue with that and build a good retirement pot! English is fine as well, better than my Dutch! Darren www.fmp.group Whatsapp Direct By Clicking Here 01706 507202 Link to comment
