Progressive Property MSOPI Event

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm just wondering if anybody has attended Progressive Property's MSOPI (multiple streams of property income event) and whether it is worth the effort. I'm well aware that it's aim is to sign you up to all sorts of courses and buy their products so I would leave my credit card at home, but do you actually receive any training or anything of value over the weekend? I trust everything that Rob Dix and Rob Bence teach, but Mr Moore I'm less sure about. Interestingly though you don't find too many negative reviews of Progressive Property which does surprise me.

I'm quite confident of starting to invest under my own mettle using the valuable sources such as the hub, books, meet ups etc but I'm curious as to the benefits of sitting specific courses as they do seem to be recommended and quite popular. Only a fool thinks he knows it all and education is strongly advised in books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad.

I'm just after some unbiased reviews. I'd also be grateful for recommendations of better courses without the cayman islands upsell. I do plan to try to attend a property hub summit in 2017. I'm certain that will be of value!

HI Joe

I went to the event this past weekend actually. Here are my views:

Positives:

1. Inspiring - You hear a lot of inspiring stories and their social media community is very very helpful with any questions you may have on investments.

2. Eye opening - They take you through several NMD strategies which I would have never thought of in my wildest dreams. Caution - only very briefly as the detail will apparently only be available in the costly specialised courses.

3. Contacts - Forget the speakers, you meet several like minded genuine people who are all in a similar situation to you and its a great bonding and networking opportunity.

Not so sure on:

1. Up sell - The speeches are designed to leave you wanting more and with all the "today only" special offers, its hard not to get tempted when you see others signing up and FIMO comes into play.

2. Personal stories - I am not sure how to feel about this one. Every single speaker shared their own personal low point that got them into property and got teary on the stage, with the follow up comment of "my goal in life is to help as many people as possible achieve financial freedom". I want to believe them and their stories. I mean surely people wouldn't use their personal life's tragic events to mislead people ?

3. Contradiction - Each speaker talked about how much money they were making from property and if the figures are correct, I am not sure why they were so desperate on selling us the courses ? Each speaker also contradicted the one before them about their own strategy being the most profitable one.

The whole course is based around sourcing desperate vendors, buying (for cash!), refurb, and recycle. I am not quite sure how easy it will be to find desperate sellers and/or being able to borrow £200k cash from angel investors without much of a track record.

Anyways, I signed up for a few courses in the heat of the moment but now considering if I should use my cooling off period.

I'd much rather use that money on mentoring... (Rob- you listening ?? PLEASE ???)

Thanks

K

Hi Karun,

Thanks for taking the time and leaving such a detailed reply. It does sound as if there are some positives with attending and they do have a great reputation. It's quite clear that they are excellent sales people so I will be leaving my cards at home if I do attend and be taking in a few pound notes to cover food etc.
I am right at the beginning of my investment journey but I do subscribe more to the Rob & Rob train of thought with regards to the only way to truly begin learning is through application and making your own mistakes (I hope their aren't too many made).

I do want a mentor I suppose, but think I may have lined myself up with one locally. The sob stories really do annoy me too, tears would make me cringe. I attended a free Legacy event and this was their approach also, but it clearly works for them. I viewed a progressive property webinar on Sunday night and the speaker used this approach at the end and proceeded to slag off the NHS, which particularly offended me!

The reason they sell courses is because it is pure instant money without a massive overhead. They had 700 people viewing their live webinar on Sunday evening and sold tickets to their MSOPI event along with some bonus CDs for £18 pp. If 500 people purchased this they've made £9,000 for 90 minutes work, which could then lead on to further purchases made at the event. Genius really. I have to admit I parted with £18.00 which is most unlike me, but I wanted to view the bonus material, but I've a feeling that they will only send this once I've booked on to the MSOPI.

The problem is for beginners like us a mistake can set us back several years especially if you can't get your cash back out of a bad investment. I totally understand and want to follow the learn from your mistakes model but unfortunately unless you're buying £50k houses, its hard to get back into the market straight after a bad investment.

For now, I am scheduled to go to a couple of courses in January. From the sounds of it, you are right behind me in the investment journey so I'll be happy to share what (if anything) I learn from those courses and hopefully that can help you assess if they're right for you ? (this is if I end up going).

Anyways, good luck with everything and hope to see you in one of the meetups.

btw make sure you take some business cards with you so you can network and maybe find a JV partner.

Hey Karun and Joe,

I am just watching the progressive webinar and I did think it was ok to pay £800 for 3 days for 2 people but I googled it( as you do) and found your messages.

I won't be going... but did you go to any others that you found useful?

PS ...they are just giving me a crazy offer: 6 cds for £99+vat... wow! I would just re listen all of Rob and Rob podcasts I think :))

PSS. It's all up for £18 now. CDs and 2 tickets for free!

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

I despise these kind of courses. I would never attend any of these up sell courses. Do yourself a favour and get along to a free monthly property hub meet up. Get along to a property hub summit (for a small cost). There you will find genuine people only too willing to help you.

I recently bumped into someone that had been on a Legacy course. He wants to pack the day job in as soon as possible. He is joint venturing with his brother. Having paid for the initial course he signed up for the mentorship up sell for £20,000!!! I nearly fell off my chair. So far the 'mentor' has helped him find an alleged below market deal in an area that is not the best for buy to let in the town. By the time the house is brought back up to rentable condition, having been refurbished by a builder they recommended (I wonder why), it will be a market value purchase.

There is no way someone is going to pack the day job in any day soon by following this strategy. They would need dozens of houses. For someone wanting to pack the day job in as quickly as possible an HMO strategy is much better.

Despite spending this vast amount of money on training and mentoring, he was completely unaware of resources such as Property Tribes and Streetcheck.

I would strongly urge anyone tempted by these courses to avoid them like the plague. Everything needed to be successful in property can be found on this website mostly for free. Anyone that is tempted needs to ask themselves a question. Why have the 2 Robs been totally unable to recommend a single course offered by the likes of Progressive in their hundreds of podcasts? Indeed if anything, they advise the opposite course of action without being as blunt as I am.

Hi youngjoe80

I totally agree!

Rob & Rob and the team are doing such an amazing job of educating us and getting us connected! I wish there was a podcast every day, I am totally addicted:)

I do go to the meet ups and find them extremely useful! I am thinking of going to the Summit too.

I only started investing property investing a few months ago and I thought that there might be some good courses to go to, that's why I asked the question.

Kind regards

Hi All

I think we need to be careful branding companies as scams or misleading people. These guys are in the property business to make money just like us. The difference is that they've decided to focus on property education as the source of income as oppose to the property acquisition. I have no problems with people selling courses so long as they provide value and networking opportunities.

While I haven't done any of their expensive courses, I have heard good things from people who have attended these courses.

At the end of the day, its our decision to participate or not.

I think there's no substitute for learning while doing however there is something to be said about going into a project well educated and researched. I have found my business partners in these circles so if nothing else, they are a fantastic networking opportunity.

Don't blame people for trying to make some money with their time and resources as that is what we all are trying to do.

Remember, that is what RMP property is trying to do as well.

I personally enjoy some of the free webinars that some companies offer. They tend to start off with a background story, high level summary of strategies, some examples then followed by the hard sell.

If you take a few of the key points from it and ignore the hard sell (unless you're really really interested) then I think it's a decent 30-40 mins spent, even if it just provides a different viewpoint. Some of these webinars then offer free tickets to the 1 or  3 day events, of which are then further adverts for the more expensive courses.

As long as the customer is allowed to make an informed choice and isn't pressured to take out further learning, but unfortunately this doesn't always happen.

I have met a few people from Progressive Property. I must say though; I have never met Mark Homer or Rob Moore; just some of the people who teach their courses.

The worse guy I have met from Progressive Property was when I went to a free course at the Progressive Property office in Peterborough. He said he earned over £20k net per month from property and over £20k net per month from speaking engagements. Yet, he was sooo desperate to sign us up to the Progressive Property VIP program it was sick. Here he was, this so called amazing property genius, who had driven from Scotland to Peterborough to teach a free course, to 6 people in a business park in Peterborough. Doing this out of the goodness of his own heart to help others? I don't think so. It was sick. The guy cried just before the up sell (as described above), talking about how his mom got ill then died. Imagine talking about that to sell courses. Horrible.

He also told us how he knew the queen haha.

I've met the same character. He took smugness to a new level.

These people don't just concentrate on 'education' though do they? They claim to practice what they preach. If what they are preaching is so good then why don't they spend all their time putting their 'education' into practice? The answer is because most of them are nothing but professional con men looking to make a huge fast buck at the expense of the naive and gullible.

It is the same in many fields, as a pro photographer I have seen similar courses for photographers trying to sell expensive courses to teach you techniques which would make you a lot more money, in reality most of these people make more money from teaching than doing the job or they wouldn't focus so heavily on it.  They also all have a sob story to tell about 'before' they made it big - eg. in debt, etc.
