Dean, I also want to share my thanks for the information on accountants and all the assistance on DoT and the rest!

 

I recently had a consultation with The Property Hub Tax. Whilst I won't go into detail here I was not impressed (as you know from our phone calls Dean) and subsequently requested and received a refund. If you are looking to book one you may wish to PM me for more details.

 

At present there's no real place to review the service but this should really be setup (trustpilot?) so they receive a wide spread of views.

just an update from my side, I contacted Rita4Rent and Ednan from ek-accounting. I was quite disappointed with both:

 

1. Rita4rent: I scheduled a paid call with them to go through my properties and get some tax advice, initial email contact was with Michael and then the call itself was with Janice Parker. She was completely lost during the call, she didn't read properly all the information sent previously to Michael about my properties and my current situation and I had to explain myself over the phone and she provided what it looked like google searches  as I was able to provide her more information about property tax then she could provide me. It was a very unprofessional call. I mentioned this to Michael, he waived the fee which I was keen to pay if he stepped in to help with tax advice instead of speaking to a person that didn't prepare for the call. Anyway, never heard back from him since then as my case may seem too complicated to deal with.
2. ek-accounting: Ednan contacted me via PM here on the forum about his services claiming he worked for some big names in accounting and has plenty of experience. Based on a couple of reports from this topic via PM he could be a good choice I gave him a go. He was very unresponsive by email and when on the phone he mentioned he would get back by email, which never happened. A bit more back and forth and still nothing so I decided to give up.

 

I had in my list of accounting companies to try, someone called optimise accounting which I don't know where I got their name from, perhaps from forum or google search. I made contact with them about 3 months ago to start gauging their professional level of services and how good they are. I paid for a call to get tax advice and they seemed to know a lot about the subject and were very well prepared. I decided to move all my accounts services to them after speaking to a few more people on their side and I can honestly say they have got their shit together better than any other accountant I've come across before. They are definitely not cheap, they are actually on the medium to higher end of spectrum on pricing but they are saving me time, helping me properly with property tax and being very forward thinking about different ways to manage my portfolio. Anyway, I highly recommend you guys speaking to them, £200 or something like that for a tax advice tax to get a feeling how they work is like. https://www.optimiseaccountants.co.uk/

 

bear in mind, I must have spoke to 10-15 different accounting firms and individuals trying to get someone that really understands what I'm trying to do, most were clueless and you would be better off doing google search than relying on them.

We are looking at SPV LTD's currently and wondering what is a fair price for a start out SPV to set up and run the accounts (2 properties) and looking to expand. Seem to have been quoted anything from £44.50+VAT / month up to £139+VAT /month. Just wondered what others were paying for this size, and whether people have property letting specific accountants, or are just using standard accountants. I have come across a few property names on here and other property places (RITA/Optimise/theaccountancy.co.uk/the property hub) Has anyone any experience with Horner Downey&Co?

I'm paying optimise £99 a month for 2 tax returns (me and my partner) and the accounts of 2 properties as individuals that later on will be sold to a ltd. The accounting costs doing it later through a ltd will be a bit higher.
