As we covered last week, a huge amount has changed in property in the last five years. But one thing hasn’t…interest rates! The base rate was 0.5% when we started the podcast 268 episodes ago, and it’s still 0.5% now.
But it has just had a 0.25% point rase to get back to its established 0.5% level, so is this just the beginning of a series of rate rises that investors should be worried about? Or should we be worried that they’re not going up? There are few topics more important in shaping the investment landscape, so in this episode we get into interest rates in detail.
And it’s a great week for news, for two reasons. Firstly, it means one of our predictions has come to pass. And secondly and more importantly, it’s great news for anyone wanting to purchase a property via a limited company using a mortgage. Aldermore has announced that they’ll be offering reduced rates for portfolio landlords in line with their buy to let range for private individuals. Find out more here.
