  1. Hi there, First time poster on the forum. This year I plan on investing £250K in to property with the aim to have at least 4 properties in my portfolio by the end of the year. I want to purchase 2 properties in Newcastle at least. I was wondering if anyone could give any advice on micro-locations in Sandyford, Jesmond and Heaton? From my own time in the city I know all 3 are very popular for students, but ideally I'd be looking at letting to young professionals for a few different reasons. I'd be interested to hear from anyone with recent experience in these 3 areas (or any other NE-
  2. Hi all, When people ask why I buy flats in Gateshead it's easy to point out the extremely high yields but i've also been aware of the poor capital growth. I've always hoped that investment in Newcastle would eventually cause the affluence to spill over the Tyne into Gateshead and start to push the prices up there (maybe over the next 10 years or so). Has anyone got any opinions on the likelihood of this happening? I'm conscious that I might be investing in an area where the market value remains stagnant as it has done for the last at least 5 years!
  3. Hello, a quick(ish) intro from me as writing on a tablet is no fun. Myself and husband live in the outer west area of Newcastle and have a property in this area; a basic no nonsense 100 year old 3 bed mid terrace, which we are readying for renovation in March. We became accidental landlords with this property in 2012 after running out of time to sell it for a decent price when we purchased our family home. We came up with a canny solution to rent it to my brother with a view to him buying it from us. The property has a BTL mortgage in place. So, basically he has l
  4. Hi All, I'm looking for someone to do a refurb in the Newcastle area for me. I work full time so am not able to be on site alot. Ideally It would be someone I could entrust the project management side of things to also. Can anyone recommend anyone please? Many thanks in advance Al Robinson
  5. Hello! I'm based just outside Newcastle upon Tyne and it would be great to get to know other people that are 'into' property. As my network currently as no like minded people. About me: 34m love skiing, springer spaniels, countryside, mountain biking and the Lake District is my favourite place! Current situation: I had had been in a senior position in secondary education for the past ten years (now 34) and flipped property as a hobby. Last October I decided to leave my career. After a few months of soul searching for the next
  6. Can anyone recommend a good mortgage advisor in or near Newcastle upon-Tyne or in Richmond (North Yorkshire) ? I'm looking to invest in the north east and would like a local contact to get some advice. Thanks in advance. Andrew
  7. Hi Property Hub, I had a look on the site when it launched and am looking forward to joining the community now it's full steam ahead. I'm at the start of my property journey and I own one property in Newcastle and have bought one off plan from RMP (anyone heard of them? ;-). My goal is to buy two more properties by the end of the year in the North east with my 2 brothers as JV partners. Despite Rob and Rob saying "never invest in the north east" we're doing well on our first property and are confident about taking small steps. Ideally I'd like to meet people with experience in
  8. Hello all I've been listening to the podcast for a couple of months now and it's been great in helping me find a direction. I've just sold my first house and was well on the way to buying another to live in, but after listening to almost all of the podcast back issues I'm much more interested in BTL and flipping. I've currently got a healthy deposit for a start but I have been struggling with mortgages as I'm no longer a homeowner and I'm not a particularly high earner. I spend my weekdays carrying out joinery and building and my weekends...are usually the same
