TPP141:

What next for London?

It’s being debated endlessly in the media, at property networking events and all the most fashionable dinner parties – so we’re getting in on the action too. London property prices, it’s fair to say, are seriously high – so will they go further, or come back down to earth?

In this episode we examine what’s happened since the crash and where we are now, looking for clues to help us predict what’s in store for the years ahead. To help us along the way we draw on several data points, including:

  • ONS regional house price data
  • The FT’s report of the percentage of London property bought by non-British nationals
  • UBS ranking London as the least affordable city in the world

Resource of the week

We’ve spoken before about the importance of giving the next generation a solid financial education, and this week’s resource is a tool to help you do just that.

Osper is a pre-paid debit MasterCard, paired with an app. It allows parents to load money on for their kids and keep an eye on what’s being spent, and the card holder can track their spending over time and set savings goals.

It looks like a pretty neat way of giving responsibility with oversight, so well worth a look if you want your kids to get the right mindset and become future Property Podcast listeners.
